How It Works
Here’s the process from start to finish:
Before the event: We have a quick consultation to talk through your vision — colors, themes, canvas size, and how much participation you want. I handle all the logistics from there.
Day of: I arrive about two hours early to set up. All materials are provided — high-quality acrylic paints, brushes, canvases, protective floor coverings, everything. Your venue doesn’t need to lift a finger.
During the event: Guests come up, I guide them through adding their contribution, and the canvas grows throughout the night. Sessions typically run 1–4 hours depending on your event. I keep things moving, make every guest feel comfortable regardless of their skill level, and manage the composition so it all comes together.
After the event: I take the canvas back to my studio and do the real finishing work — blending, refining, and transforming all those individual marks into a cohesive, polished painting. Your finished artwork is ready to hang within 48 hours.

How many guests can participate in an interactive live painting experience? One canvas comfortably accommodates up to 200 participants. For larger events, I set up multiple canvases so everyone who wants to contribute can join in. Whether you have 20 guests or 500, the experience scales to fit — making it one of the most flexible interactive art experiences available in Chicago and the suburbs.
Do guests need any artistic experience? Not at all. That’s one of the things people love most about this. I guide every single participant through the process — all they need to do is show up and have fun. I’ve had guests who swore they “can’t draw a straight line” end up being the most enthusiastic contributors of the night.
What does the venue need to provide? Very little. I just need a nearby electrical outlet, a table, and roughly a 10×10 foot area for the easel and guest participation space. I arrive about two hours before your event to handle all setup, and I take care of cleanup at the end. All paints, brushes, canvases, and protective floor coverings are included.
Can the painting be customized for my event’s theme or brand? Absolutely. I can incorporate wedding colors, company logos, brand palettes, custom themes, or specific motifs. Corporate clients often request branded canvases or team-building themes, while couples typically choose colors and symbols that reflect their personal story. We go over all of this during our pre-event consultation.
How far in advance should I book? Peak seasons — especially spring and fall weddings and holiday corporate events — book up 6–12 months in advance. That said, shorter timelines are sometimes possible depending on availability. I’d recommend reaching out as early as you can to secure your date, especially for Saturday events in the Chicago area.
Is Roni insured for live event painting? Yes. Roni is fully insured as a performance artist, and The Underground Gallery is also insured. A Certificate of Insurance (COI) can be provided to your venue upon request — most Chicago-area venues require this and it’s never been an issue.

Traditional paint-and-sip events typically focus on individuals creating separate paintings while following instructions.
